Barranco de Elvira Sánchez (Part 3)

Rincón de Aganada Detour

About three quarters of the way down the Orzola – Playa Blanca GR-131 path, you have an option to extend the walk. The extension incorporates the dirt track Calle Rincón de Aganada. The route includes stunning views from Mirador Rincon de Haria.

To extend the walk, on the last but one zigzag, as you cross the LZ-10, look down the road and you see a dirt track joins the road from the left. This dirt track is Calle Rincón de Aganada. After about 277m you come to a sharp bend where Calle César Manrique and Calle Rincón de Aganada meet.

This is where you started the ascent of the Barranco de Elvira Sánchez earlier in the walk. Continue ahead on the dirt road as you skirt the inside shoulders of hillside with views down into Haria.

After about 2km you come to the the Mirador Rincon de Haria. Mirador meaning view and Rincon meaning corner. Follow Calle Rincón de Aganada all the way to the bottom, passing small holdings to both the left and right. As you enter the village the road continues ahead, but you can take the small barranco. This winds past the back gardens, some of which have some interesting statues.

At the first bridge, clamber up the slope, turning right onto Calle la Cañada. Pass the Ferretería (ironmongers) and across the junction into Calle Ángel Guerra. In the dip here notice the Wells to either side of the street. Straight ahead and you turn right onto Calle Elvira Sánchez. Follow the signs for the Football Stadium back to the start.
