The Casa del Agua walk starts from the far end of the Kite Surfing Beach at Famara. It is an A to B walk, so unfortunately we have to retrace our steps on this one. This walk can easily be done in 1 -2 hours, mostly flat, but a little tricky under foot in places.
Directions
Heading towards Famara from Teguise along the LZ 402. Take the right hand turning along the sand track towards the Surfers Bungalows by the remains of an old Lanzarote style windmill. Follow the track (Calle Bellas del Risco) up and around the bungalows, back down towards the sea and then all the way to the end where you can park up.

The Walk
You can obviously extend this walk by moving you parking place. The distance shown on the above map is only for one way.
Before you start the walk, take a few minutes to look around to see if you can find the remains of the old pipe line. The walk starts which a gentle stroll up the path at the very end of the road, before levelling off and winding in and out of the various folds of the mountain’s lower slopes.
After 30 minutes or so you come to the Casa del Agua. It is a building left over from when they used to tap into the natural aquifers under the Risco De Famara. Here you can find a cistern where the fresh water simply pours out of the mountain side. Depending on rainfall it usually runs to a greater or lesser extent all year round.

For the more adventurous, if you can make your way down onto the pebble beach and walk to the far end. you can see various water galleries which were driven into the mountain side in an effort to extract the water.
The pebbles are quite awkward under foot, but along the way you can find evidence of old mine carts, rails and the old pipeline.
