The Guatiza Los Valles Majon walk is a little over 10km and well marked. There is quite a sharp ascent up onto the ridge line, but the views are fantastic. It took me roughly 3 – 4 hours with photo ops and water breaks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Directions<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Follow the LZ-1 out of Arrecife, right at the round-a-bout in Tahiche. Continue on the LZ-1 past Costa Teguise and take the exit for Guatiza. Take the first left off Av. Garaf\u00eda onto Av. Alfonso Tolosa. Continue until the junction with the LZ-405, turning right and parking at the Guatiza Cemetery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Walk<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Guatiza Los Valles Majon walk starts from the Hermitage Santa Margarita (Guatiza Cemetery). Find the small path behind the cemetery at the north east corner. Follow this path north up the hill, the Teneguime ravine gradually opens on your right hand stide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the top the path continues ahead, we take the dirt track that joins from the left. The dirt track climbs up and around a small hill until it joins another path. Here we turn right and begin a steep ascent to the top of the ridge line. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the junction with the tarmac road (LZ-10), there is Restaurante Mirador de Los Valles. Alternatively follow the rough dirt track Calle Zorrocloco south west. As it descends the track become tarmac and eventually re-joins LZ-10 at the bottom of the valley. Turn left here and after 327m there is a dirt road on the left.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Taking this dirt track, you climb up and over a small hill that brings you out onto Calle la Quesera. Turn left here and continue for 540m where a walled dirt track on the left brings you out onto the LZ-405. Left here, north, north west along this country lane takes you back to the start of the walk (2.8km).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are a number of small farms along this route. Eventually you will come to a vantage point where you see the road ahead make a 180o switchback. Looking down to the right you see the Hermitage where the walk started. Here is a stumbling path leading down, past an old aljibe, past the water depository directly across from the cemetery. It’s not much of a short cut, but it gets you off the road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
