Charco De San Ginés

An easy ride to Arrecife, mostly along the promenade / dedicated cycle routes, about 7.5km. On the way you pass the old Telemon wreck and Castillo de San José, which plays host to both a museum of contemporary art and a very nice restaurant. If you cycle through the little village of Las Caletas you will find another restaurant worthy of mention, Casa Tomas.

Charco de San Gines is a tidal lagoon in the old part of the city. It is surrounded by the iconic white fisherman’s houses, many now converted into bars and restaurants. The adjoining neighbourhood El Barrio de la Puntilla comprises many old houses, the church of San Ginés and Castillo de San Gabriel. Charco de San Ginés is a great place for lunch or just a coffee and a spot of people watching.

The church of San Ginés boasts an impressive tower with a white cupola. The church plaza has a local farmers market every Saturday, well worth a visit. The Castillo de San Gabriel has a small museum inside and is accessed by the much photographed Puente de las Bolas.
